The Trial of the Kings is an alternate take on the future of Eos after the events of Prince Noctis’ time. A Millenia passed and the world received a hard reset from the Gods. After the loss of the Oracle and the True King, Eos was left scared and ravaged by the Starscourge. The Lucis bloodline was gone, nothing of it remained. Who would protect the Crystal now?
M.E. 766. Noctis is dead and thus ends the line of Lucis. While Eos is no longer plagued by Starscourge, the scars and damage lingers. In its vulnerable state, the Astrals are forced to act. The Crystal must be protected.
Bhunivelze, God of Light; And Etro, Goddess of Death and Chaos. Two Gods considered to be the Gods of Gods. They once played a hand in the creation of Eos, only they did not stay to see the fruits of their labor. But upon the end of the royal bloodline and the conclusion of the Starscourge come to an end, they returned to the Astral realm.
With no protection for the foreseeable future, and doomed prophecies already being foretold, Eos would eventually see its end. Bhunivelze was determined that the Astrals involvement and meddling was what would lead to the destruction of his and Etro’s creation, and sought to severe their connection to the Mortal Realm. The Starscourge was the result of an angry God playing around in the Mortal Realm. He told the six his decree, and they had no choice but to accept. All but one. Shiva, she always had a soft spot for humans, and she wished to stay with them. She denounced her name, giving herself a human one, and left the Astral Realm for good. While Etro and Bhunivelze could not strip her of immortality and connection to the cold element, she was nothing more than a very powerful human.
Etro, being the one who provided the material from which humans were made, and the one who protects the balance between the mortal world and the afterlife, already had a piqued interest in mortal beings. Shiva’s shocking decision to stay on Eos sparked a mistake Etro would never live down.
While the remaining five Astrals could not venture from the Astral Realm to the Mortal Realm, Etro and Bhunivelze was not bound by such laws, they did not call it home after all. Etro, knowing her powerful fellow God would not allow her to meddle in the affairs of the mortals, tricked the God of Light into pouring all his energy into the sealing of the Astral Realm all by himself. Bhunivelze, now a sleeping God waiting for the call to awaken, foretold that his awakening will be heralded by turmoil.
Free to do as she please, Etro visited the Mortal Realm as she pleased and came to love the human race over time.
The Astrals were stuck, cut off from the Mortal Realm and unable to communicate with their messengers or even to peer into Eos. They still had their Messengers. Messengers were magical beings sent by Astrals to help the Oracle and make the gods' will known to mankind. The twenty-four messengers took on one last task and went throughout Eos to entrust six families with one of the Royal Arms each. In years to come, when the time called for a new King, a new bloodline to protect the Crystal, The Trial of Kings was to be decreed.
The New Era was named, and the Messengers were relieved of their duty, With the connection between the Astral Realm and Mortal Realm severed, all the messengers left on Eos were stuck. Eventually they came to form the Nunline household, passing down the beliefs and history of the Astrals.
N.E. 1048. The world a new. The time of The True King is thought to be nothing but stories and legends of the past. Even the Astrals themselves have been forgotten or written off as stories. Regardless of the loss of faith and history, the world was safe. That is until the Starscourge plagued the land once again, however, unlike last time Ifrit was not to blame for its reappearance.
The Trial of the True King was to begin.
During Etro’s time on Eos she mothered two demi-god children with human fathers’. When she began to see symptoms and signs of the reemergence of the Starscourge, she knew that Eos would need the help of the six to end the plague and save humanity from darkness. She tried to restore the connection with the Astral Realm by herself - but it was a task that required far more power than she has alone. She was able to create a bridge through the crystal located at the heart of insomnia. It became a window for the Astrals. They could now peer into the Mortal Realm. But they could not come to Eos on their own.
As soon as Bahamut could see the fate that was about to befall Eos, he possessed a human and communicated that the trial for a new king would begin - and that each candidate must travel to the crystal to commune with the Astrals and receive his blessing.
Etro tasked her children with finding the messengers of the Astrals and using them to channel the Astral Realm, using their connection, to summon them to the Mortal Realm. Each Astral had four messengers, among the four was one Prime. A Prime before the New Age was a messenger that the Astrals could use as temporary body. Now things have changed, a Prime was a Summoner. A Prime was an Astrals only connection and way out of the Astral Realm. Due to the loss of knowledge of Astrals and Messengers, save a few devote believers and the Nunline, the ways of Summoning were lost. Violet and Paet were to awaken the Prime messengers and bring the Astrals back to the Mortal realm
The Royal Arms
Over the years the Royal Arms didn't always stay with the same families, the powerful and ancient weapons were fought over for some time. By the time of The Trial of The True King, most weapons had been with a bloodline for some time. The Durgan's held the Axe of The Conqueror. The Nunline's held the Star of The Rogue. The Fyfe's held the Mace of The Fierce. The Hugh's held the Scepter of The Pious. The Aurelio's held the Sword of The Tall. And the Nelson's held the Shield of The Just. Over time others had found other weapons, such as Sabir. He held the sword of the wanderer before he gave up ownership to Rei, who’s true identity was Erin Nunline.
As it stands, the Royal Arms are currently in the possession of the following:
Sword of The Wise - Axe of The Conqueror - Will Sword of The Wanderer - Erin Blade of The Mystic - Star of The Rogue - Erin Sword of The Tall - Del Mace of The Fierce - Rune Bow of The Clever - Scepter of The Pious - Lynnette Shield of The Just - Preston Katana of The Warrior - Trident of The Oracle - Sword of The Father -
The King's Glaive
The Kingsglaive is an elite group of soldiers that defends the kinf. It is referred to colloquially as the Glaive, and it is blessed with the monarch's magic. As a divine gift, the kings of Lucis can use magical powers that enable them to teleport, cast spells, use healing potions, and forge weapons from thin air. The king can share these powers, and thus the Glaives use variations of these abilities at the behest of King Regis, whom the Glaives in turn are sworn to serve. Glaives wield daggers used for cutting and to increase mobility, as they can be warped to when thrown. The members wield the King’s magic, and thus can warp and use many powerful spells, such as Fire, Thunder, and Protect.
Each candidate can have up to four Glaives.

The Astrals. The Messengers.
Six Astral beings watch over the lands of Eos. Along with Etro and Bhunivelze they created the world they look over. The events of The Trial of The True King called for the Astrals to take on mortal forms and mortal names.
Messengers in the New Area are born as mortals, the souls of the messengers from a thousand years ago reincarnating into this life and the next, sleeping and awaiting their designated Astral to need them once again.
Titan, the Archaean, steadfast as stone. - Augustine Ramuh, the Fulgurian, sharp as lightning. - Spencer Shiva, the Glacian, gentle as snow. - Alcyone Leviathan, the Hydraean, relentless as tides. - Rhys Bahamut, the Draconian, unbending as iron. - Emmanuel Ifrit, the Infernian, fickle as fire. - Drake
Five of these beings are tied to the mortal world due to the existence of their Prime Messenger.

Oracles
In the Modern Era the Oracle came from the royal family of Tenebrae. With the death of the last heirs of Fleuret bloodline dying; the Astrals were left without opportunity to bestow a new oracle onto the world.
The second coming of the Starscourge not only called for a new bloodline of kings, it also called for a new bloodline of Oracles. With Bahamut earning a mortal form he has taken it upon himself to help a new oracle, and bloodline, ascend and bestow onto them the Trident of the Oracle.
The Trial of the Oracle includes learning how to halt the Starscourge, Learning the language of the Astrals (( add more later )). There are said to be Six Oracle Candidates.
